CPAC is the “Connecticut Parent Advocacy Center, Inc.”, a statewide nonprofit organization that offers information and support to families of children with any disability or chronic illness, age birth through 26.

CPAC is staffed by parents of children with disabilities experienced and well-trained in special education law. Much of our work is done over the phones. Parent Consultants are available to discuss your individual concerns between the hours of 8:00 am and 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday. CPAC also offers training opportunities for parents and professionals.
All of our services are free for parents and all information is kept confidential!

How can I reach a Parent Consultant?
Consultants are available via our toll-free phone number, 800-445-2722. CPAC staff can also be reached via email anytime at cpac@cpacinc.org. Parents and professionals are welcome to visit our offices in Niantic or New Haven anytime. We take pride in the fact that all inquiries are responded to promptly!

What training opportunities does CPAC offer?
CPAC offers workshops and in-service presentations across the state, For more information or to schedule a workshop please contact CPAC at (800) 445-2722 or by email at: cpac@cpacinc.org.
CPAC also has developed a training series, Next STEPS (Support and Training for Educators and Parents), which is held at least two times per year. A growing network of trained ‘parent advisors’ now exists across the state. Contact jhampton@cpacinc.org for more information.

As Connecticut’s federally-funded Parent Training and Information Center (PTI) CPAC’s core funding comes through the U.S. Department of Education. We have been able to expand the scope of our work through grants from the CT State Department of Education and private donations. CPAC is NOT a state or federal agency.

Does CPAC have written materials that I can request?
Yes. CPAC offers a variety of fact sheets and brochures, in both English and Spanish, on topics related to special education and disability issues. Through connections with partners in our national network of parent centers, CPAC has access to up-to-date information in many different formats and languages. You can access some of our more frequently requested materials by visiting our Materials page. In addition, CPAC publishes and distributes a Newsletter, SPEAK OUT, two to three times per year to over 9,000 parents and professionals in Connecticut. You can access SPEAK OUT online or you may contact the Center to have your name added to our mailing list.
